The Complete Poems of Dorothy Parker Quotes (showing 1-5 of 5)

“In youth, it was a way I had,
To do my best to please.
And change, with every passing lad
To suit his theories.

But now I know the things I know
And do the things I do,
And if you do not like me so,
To hell, my love, with you.”

Newlywed Game

Today our teenage girls decided that it would be fun for Handsome Hubby and I to play the Newlywed Game. We were married in 2009 so I guess we might still be considered newlyweds.

They asked us a total of 16 questions.  We answered 2 differently.  I cannot say incorrectly because we interpreted the question differently. For example, one question was “What was the biggest surprise present he has given you?”  He answered,” A new car.” I answered, “A candle.” He forgot he even bought me a candle so many years ago and because he talked to me the whole time he was at the dealership buying me the car I didn’t think it was much of a surprise!

The other question we missed was, “Name something Cyndi does too much of.” I answered, “wash”. He said, “talk.” Oh well, we cannot win them all.

The other questions?

If you were going to bring a sweet treat to you husband/ wife, what would it be?

Who would your husband marry if he could marry any celebrity?

My spouse is a great _____, but a horrible ______.

My husband is a natural born ______.

My wife is a natural born _______.

Who is the better cook between the two of you?

Where was your first date?

How much did you spend?

If there was a fire I would grab_____. My spouse would grab _____.

You get the idea. It was a great reminder of our connection. We always are aware of our love for one another and do not take it for granted but this was a great way to show our children how connected and in love we are.

Writing Process

Every time and I do mean every single time I start to write I have a particular goal, idea or thought I would like to share that ends up evolving into something different along the way.

Today I want to write about how excited I am to see Handsome Hubby’s books as well as mine continue to sell. I know through the writing process my intention will evolve into something different. It always does.

Often I feel I am being led by something stronger than the thoughts in my brain when I write, either for my blogs or in my writing in general. I’m curious? Does this happen to anyone else? Is this true to others writing process?

Handsome Hubby knows exactly what he will type when he sits to write. The words flow with ease and accuracy. For me, the process is like stumbling through deep, dark woods full of roots and plants. I stumble. I have to retrace steps. I cannot see the end until something grabs hold of my hands and takes over. Something envelops my thoughts and takes over. My creative juices flow.

There can be chaos all around or dead silence.Environment does not matter, What matters is my connection with who ever or what ever is guiding me.

You see, I see orbs. I see 5 different ones as a matter of fact and know who most are. They guide me daily. But when I am writing I rarely see them, I feel something trigger a change in the direction my mind is thinking. I feel when I am on the right track, so to speak. Usually one word triggers that change and I go with it. Let the fingers type and honestly do not pay much attention as to what shows up on the screen or is being thought in my head.

Coo-coo?  Absolutely and it works for me! As I attempt to write my first fiction novel. I feel out of sorts. I am more of a self help kinda girl or TRUE STORY.  Fiction is hard and I am using it to challenge myself. When it is published and it will be, I pray that it speaks to many of you.

In the meantime, I ask that you read Handsome Hubby’s books

Please reply with your writing process. I truly am interested!

He said I wrote like a PRO!

Ahh…. summertime!

For us, summer translates to boat time.

I guess you could say we have two seasons here: boating and hunting.

We work as a family all week to take care of chores and maintenance around the camp so that when the weekend comes we can BOAT!

With 4 school age children at home we have daily chores, weekly chores and school work that must be completed.

Summer bridge work is very important to us here. Not the kids, the parents.

This summer it seems Handsome Hubby and I have some extra work too! Writing books! Meeting our own deadlines!

Handsome Hubby’s author page is linked here

His second book “Jesus Held Me” is a wonderful story of a terrible time in our lives.

“Prophecy of Honor”, his first book is close to becoming a “best seller” on Amazon.

He is rewriting it to add some character depth as I type this!

My second book

will be released soon! Like real soon!

Look for the first, which I must say is not my best writing but is a story of triumph over struggles with weight. I consider it a “must read”. Don’t judge the second book based on the first.

When Handsome Hubby read the second he told me he thought a professional wrote it! His comment for the first was “get it published, it’s a great story”. Both compliments! I like being a PRO THO!

You can link to that here.

My third book will be fiction and I am scared to say the least! I may have to write under a pen name? We will see!

Jesus Held Me

Handsome Hubby has shared his “story”— testified— many times since Jesus held him. Writing this story for all to be blessed by soon became a necessity as God would interrupt Handsome Hubby’s prayers to lead him.

God would say, “Write.”

Handsome Hubby told me about these occasions. I asked what stories he wanted to tell. We didn’t know he wanted Handsome Hubby’s testimony written, at that time.

HH told the family of some wonderful ideas he has been working on for years in hopes of one day putting them on paper.

The family chose one — THE PROPHECY OF HONOR.

A great epic story of good versus evil with dragons, knights and sorcery. A far cry from what I expected HH to pitch as a retired cop, detective, investigator, and Polygraphist. I expected an epic Civil War piece — he pitched that. I expected true crime– he pitched that. I did not expect dragons and sorcerers. Our family chose Prophecy of Honor because it didn’t fit the stereotypical writing genre for a retired cop.

The success of Prophecy doesn’t surprise me. Prequels and sequels are in the planning stages.

But almost every time HH prayed since writing his first book he continued to hear, “Write.”

He wasn’t quite sure what God wanted him to write so he asked. HH was shown his testimony.

He now knew what needed to be written. He knew what he was being asked to write. He wanted to share the story; he had verbally shared it several times before. Grown veteran State Policemen were brought to tears by Handsome Hubby’s story.

Several attempts were made to complete his book but illnesses got in the way, he travelled more than usual and the like. He promised God he would finish it and locked in a completion date. Knowing he could not break a promise he made to God kept the book part of his daily. Yet again, minor set backs kept the book from being finished.

I was very involved in the writing of Prophecy. I read the new material daily, came up with names for characters/ places that were ultimately not used and helped publish it.

“Jesus Held Me” was a different story. I wanted as far away from the book as possible. Memories that had faded into the deep crevices of my mind were just where they needed to stay.

You see, when Handsome Hubby first thought to he needed to write this story he thought we needed to write it together.

My thought, was that he needed to write it from his memory. If he was way off on something I would remind him.

Honestly, I couldn’t bare to go through the emotion of it again. For me to co-write would mean exact, factual, point on details. I didn’t want to go there.

I didn’t want to drag out my accordion file folder, literally and figuratively speaking. The files that have exact notes of behavior, medications, notes about doctors visits and the diary I started.

The diary lasted 1 night. I thought it might be a good idea to jot the stuff down HH was up to one evening. He writes about this night in detail in the book. I didn’t know then what he was hallucinating and he never told me until he wrote it in Jesus Held Me. Needless to say, I cried and thanked God for me not keeping a diary of the rest of the nights.

Sure, there are places I would have wanted to add my own thoughts.

He says I left him twice. I did have to leave a few more times but only when he was in the care of his parents. I did go across the street to get clothes one day. I was pregnant and literally washed my clothes in the bathroom sink.

I would have said that his sisters that live locally brought us tons of food. In fact, he ate sushi for the first time and loved it so much I got him sushi when I bought maternity clothes.

I would have said he was much more sensitive to sounds, light and smell than he even explains.

I would have said that through that pain he was always so sweet, tender and loving. I get headaches and want to blow a gasket. He was a rock.

Memories flood my mind as tears flood my eyes remembering those days now.

The world is a better place because of Woody Overton!

In the end, he wrote what was important. JESUS HELD HIM and he has an extraordinary testimony. We do actually.

Almost complete

Hallelujah! Yippee!

“Jesus Held Me” is near completion! The cover was completed today and we are working on a few additions and editing now. It should be available no later than FRIDAY!

I cannot wait to share this story with everyone! It is a great read Handsome Hubby had poured his heart into.

After it is published we will move on to out next book I’m sure although he says we will take some time off… I don’t see how we can.

The ” Prophecy of Honor” prequel has been waiting patiently to be written!

Do you wait in between your stories to start your next? Maybe a vacation of sort? I’m curious….
